The Manufacturing Plant records series consists of two subseries. The Manufacturing Plant Correspondence records subseries, 1937-1945 (11.6 cubic ft.), Acc. 223, consists of correspondence, working papers, worksheets, and ledger sheets for branch assembly operations throughout the United States. The material primarily covers parts production cost information at Ford Village Industry plants in Michigan including Big Bay, Brooklyn, Cherry Hill, Dundee, Flat Rock, Milford, Nankin Mills, Phoenix, Plymouth, and Waterford. In addition, the subseries contains manufacturing cost information for Ford operations in Northern Michigan including Iron Mountain, L'Anse, and Munising, as well as some data for the Ypsilanti plant. The subseries also includes branch cost data from Ford plants in Chester, New Jersey; Chicago, Illinois; Dallas, Texas; Edgewater, New Jersey; Green Island, New York; Hamilton, Ohio; Kansas City, Missouri; Louisville, Kentucky; Memphis, Tennessee; Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota; Somerville, Massachusetts; and the Fordson Coal Company in Stone, Kentucky. The Iron Mountain Manufacturing Plant records subseries, 1927-1945 (2 cubic ft.), Acc. 224, consists of correspondence, journal ledgers, and working papers detailing operations at Ford owned and leased mines throughout northern Michigan. The subseries includes lease payment records, mine production information, labor costs, and ore analysis reports as well as limited cost information on logging operations in northern Michigan.
